Welcome to Mondo Fruitcake!

Welcome to the small, decidedly carb-heavy land of fruitcake lovers! This blog was created to review all the fruitcakes out there that seem to be giving fruitcake a bad name--as well as to find the fruitcakes that are actually good--swell, even.

I've ranked all the fruitcakes I've reviewed so far and put links to those reviews in the sidebar. You can get to a company's website by clicking on the review title once you've selected one.

So check your fruitcake ridicule at the door and enjoy the reviews. I eat them all so you don't have to.

To continue the Fruitcake war, how would Mundo Fruitcake person like to try some beautifully handmade fruitcake all the way from New Zealand. Tell me how to send you some so you can give us your opinion?

Isabelle. I am aware of a monastic fruitcake you have not reviewed yet. It's a good one. If you can see my email address write back and I will send it to you.

It's that time of year again -- not just for fruitcakes, but for articles about fruitcakes. I write for a national publication and I'd like to interview you for my own story about this holiday dessert. If you're willing, would you please send me your email or contact info? to susanjeanw@gmail.com
Thanks!

I ordered a Claxton fruitcake last year, and the pecans tasted kind of rancid. This year, I'm trying Holy Cross, based on what I read here. Thanks for the information!

Hi Isabelle,
I'm a fruitcake fanatic, but I live in Germany, the land of the awful "Stollen"....
This Christmas season I'd love to introduce fruitcake to my customers and am having a hard time deciding which one to choose.
Trappist Abbey is giving me the best price on their 1lb cakes, but their packaging isn't very appealing...
Assumption Abbey Bakery is offering me a special price on their 2 lb cakes, but I don't know what the packaging looks like...
And all the others don't offer wholesale pricing.

I'd really appreciate some advice!
BB

First let me say thanks for all of the reviews!!

I hope this hasn't been posted before, but I just bought this used because it's out of print. It's worth checking out if you want to make your own fruitcake at some point.

I have a client in the Fruitcake business. Could they send you their latest creation for you to review?

Your right it is great fruitcake and the cheese is wonderful too! But if you have to call these people Good Luck!! I sat on hold for 55 minutes which put me after their closing time and instead of coming on to tell me to call back or acknowledge in any way that I had been on hold...I suddenly noticed I was no longer getting recorded updates with my caller number which by the way was # 2 for the first 32 minutes then went to caller # 1 for another 24 minutes.... when I realized they were no longer updating.....I left the recorded music running on the phone and emailed while continuing to wait to just see...another 15 minutes later I finally hung up! They delivered my order quickly but one item was the wrong flavor....all I was trying to do was let them know and actually was planning to order some other items....I requested in the email they call me in the morning.....we will see....but customer service, at this point for me, may not be worth it....if they call and if they put forth an effort to make up for both cases of inconvenience, I may try them again....but at this point that is a BIG IF!!

Only make it here around Christmas, but have to ask about a new fruitcake which is the one from Whole Foods Market.
What do you think?

Haven't tried the Whole Foods market fruitcake, I'll have to add that to my list for next year!
